Clint Eastwood’s ex Sondra Locke dies in LA at 74!

The Oscar-nominated star and ex of actor Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke died on 3 November 2018 at her LA home at the age of 74 years, it is reported. She was suffering from breast and bone cancer it is learned.

A death certificate obtained by Associated Press shows that Sondra Locke died on 3 November 2018 at her home in Los Angeles. The authorities were informed at the time of her death.

But it is not known why it took nearly 6 weeks for the death of such an eminent person to be reported to the press.

The death certificate states that Sondra was suffering from the breast as well as bone cancer and this led to a cardiac arrest in her and she breathed her last on 3 November 2018. She was 74 years of age when she expired.

Sondra Locke and her film career

Sondra was born Sondra Louise Smith and she was raised in Tennessee. She worked at a radio station first and then participated in stage plays. In 1967 she was the winner of a nationwide talent search to act in a movie opposite Alan Arkin.

It was the movie adaptation of Carson McCullers’ 1940 novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Locke was her stepfather’s last name which she adopted. This film earned her rave reviews and also a Golden Globe award and an Oscar award nomination. She lost both awards to Ruth Gordon.

She did several other TV and film roles which did not leave an impact on the audience and then she met Clint Eastwood. Sondra started a professional career with Clint Eastwood with the film called The Outlaw Josey Wales in 1976. She was in six films with Clint Eastwood while they were in a relationship.

Her last film with him was the Dirty Harry film called Sudden Impact in 1983. The other films with him were  Every Which Way But Loose in 1978 and Any Which Way You Can which was a sequel made in 1980.

Sondra was also cast as the singer Rosemary Clooney in the 1982 TV biopic. She also had the chance to direct the film Ratboy in 1986.

Sondra Locke and her relationship with Clint Eastwood

Sondra and Clint Eastwood started a relationship in 1976 when both were cast in a film together. Clint also directed that movie. After 13 years and six films, the couple broke up in 1989.

It was a bitter end since Clint put her belongings outside the home which she had thought were gifted to her by Clint. He had also changed the locks of the home so that she could not enter it. Sondra had said that the split was the end of her charmed life.

This was followed by a lawsuit by Sondra against Clint for palimony and later for fraud. She stated in the second lawsuit that Clint had falsely promised her a movie so that she would drop the palimony case and the film never was made. The lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount in 1996.

She had breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy and chemotherapy for it. She released a memoir titled The Good, the Bad, and the Very Ugly: A Hollywood Journey in 1997. Sondra said:

“I try to cover the good years as well as the bad and the ugly, Also, that in even the worst ugly things there can sometimes be a lot that will make you a better person.”

It has been reported that she was married to Gordon Anderson in 1967 and was his legal wife at the time of her death. But she had said in 1997 that they were just good friends.
