The fashion designer, 30, took to Instagram on Monday, April 24 to share the heartbreaking news that she and her longtime boyfriend have broken up.

She wrote on her Instagram story,

“I’ve been feeling so anxious to post this but wanted to address something that I’ve been dealing with privately. I’ve recently undergone an unfortunate change in my relationship,”

The separation comes almost four years after their romantic relationship. However, the couple kept their romance under wrap throughout the years including Adler’s name

Bernstein then went on to reveal that the past few weeks after their split has been “really painful” and “devastating”. She continued,

“I’ve been grieving letting go of my best friend, the life we had together, and everything I believed would be my future,”

Besides, the WeWoreWhat founder acknowledged that the now-former couple still “love each other deeply” and were in “very different stages” of their lives. She added,

“That’s a reality I’ve had to come to terms with, and make the uncomfortable heartbreaking decision to move forward from,”

Danielle also shows gratitude towards her friends and family for being there for her during this hard time. She then asked some time to her followers to mourn the breakup before discussing her heartbreak so publicly.

The This Is Not a Fashion Story author explained,

“Going through a break up is challenging enough, and I didn’t want to share this update until I felt (sort of) ready to. I am still going through a whirlwind of emotions and with that, I hope you guys can understand it’s not something I will address further than this right now.”

Further, she concludes her lengthy statement by stating,
