Danny Masterson to learn new skills in jail for his post-prison life!

American actor, Danny Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping several women in early 2000s. After completing his prison term, it is unlikely that he will be able to get acting roles for his living. And hence, in prison, Danny will be learning new skills for procuring a job after he finishes his jail term.

American actor, Danny Masterson is a scientologist and started as a child model. He gained traction with his role of Steven Hyde in That ’70 Show that ran from 1998 to 2006. During the height of his career, Danny had carried out sexual assaults against several women. These women were also from the same Church of Scientology that Danny used to attend. The women wanted to press charges against Danny but the Church pressurized them to remain silent on this matter. It took twenty years for these women to break their silence and tell the world about Danny’s crimes.

It was in March 2017 that three women gathered courage and accused Danny of rape. Los Angeles Police Department took up the case seriously and began investigations. And in December 2017, another women filed a sexual assault complaint against him. He lost his job with Netflix. Later, a fifth lady also came forward with a similar complaint leading to his agency disowning him.

In November 2017, musician Cedric Bixler-Zavala also stated that Danny had raped his wife Chrissie Carnell. In June 2020, rape charges were pressed against Danny and the trial began.

Danny’s sentence and jail term

on 21 May 2021, Los Angeles County Superior Court labeled all three women who sued Danny as credible. Later, there were some issues in the trial and a retrial commenced this year in May. Danny was convicted and sentenced to thirty years in prison.

Danny is lodged in North Kern State Prison in Delano, CA and can get a parole only in June 2042. Till that time, he will have to stay behind bars and learn new skills. The  California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation representative revealed that Danny will be given the option to choose from several skills to learn after he has gone through the reception process.

This process might even take as long as 90 days since the prison staff will have to classify Danny as per his personal and educational levels.

The skills for Danny

Danny can choose from three different pathways for his future. He can become part of the “Career and Technical Education (CTE)” program. In this, there are seven career sectors that include construction and building, energy generation and utilities, business and finance, information technologies and communication sector, fashion and interior designing, manufacturing and product development, and transportation. Through this he will find work in collision repair of automobiles, carpentry industry, electrical, painting, roofing, plumbing, welding and general construction.

Secondly, Danny can go for Post-Secondary and Continuing Education Program. He can enroll for a course with several community colleges. California Community College Chancellor’s Office is also one of them. Moreover, Danny can do any other college course and gain an associate degree in it. These could help Danny in getting a job when he is eligible to be free at his age of 66.

Danny’s wife, Bijou Phillips has already filed for divorce from him this year. The couple has a child together.
