Who is Doria Ragland?
Doria Ragland shares a great relationship with her daughter, Meghan Markle. The former Suits actress announced that her mom has been there for her ever since the start of her career to falling in love with a prince.
When Meghan started living in the UK after her marriage to Prince Harry, Ragland often traveled from her home in California to meet her daughter and son-in-law.
Now that Meghan and Harry live in the States with their two children, they are closer to Doria than ever.

“Meghan draws a lot of strength from her mother. Doria is classy, chic and confident, but not unapproachable,”
“I definitely feel Meghan gets a lot of that from her mother.”

Doria lives in California
Doria was born in Ohio on September 2, 1956, and moved to California after meeting her then-husband Thomas Markle in the late seventies.
After their wedding, the couple welcomed their only child together, Meghan, in 1981 and they moved their small family to the San Fernando Valley in Hollywood.
However, Doria and Thomas called it quits when Meghan was a young girl. Since then, the grandmother of two has remained in California and lives near her daughter’s family home in Montecito.
What does Doria do for a living?
Meghan loves yoga and it seems that her mother is the major source of inspiration for the Duchess.
Doria is a yoga instructor and a former social worker. She has been seen attending yoga classes both solo and with her daughter many times in Toronto and California.
Before Meghan’s wedding to Harry in 2018, Doria even appeared alongside Oprah Winfrey for yoga instructions at the TV personality’s lavish home.
Winfrey later told Entertainment Tonight,
“She’s great at yoga, so I said, ‘Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn,’ “
Apart from that, Ragland also has a great interest in running and even participated in the 21st Annual Alive and Running 5k for Suicide Prevention run in Los Angeles in 2019.
She calls her daughter ‘Flower’
What many don’t know is that Ragland’s nickname for her daughter is Flower.
Meghan revealed the adorable moniker on her then lifestyle blog The Tig, listing her nicknames as “Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little).”
Ragland suffered during Meghan and Harry’s early relationship days
In their 2022 controversial documentary Harry & Meghan, Doria who made frequent appearances said,
“We were on the phone, and she says, ‘Mommy, I’m going out with Prince Harry,’ and I start whispering, ‘Oh my God,’ “
“And so it was from the beginning, it was very sort of, ‘Oh my God, nobody can know,’ “
She later said that she found Harry very handsome and he had great manners.
But after their relationship was made public, Ragland faced many troubles like being stalked by the paparazzi. She explained,
“I felt unsafe a lot. I can’t just go walk my dogs. I can’t just go to work. There was always someone there waiting for me.”

Doria Ragland met Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip for the first time at Windsor Castle just a day before her daughter’s wedding to Harry.
On the wedding day, she accompanied her daughter to St. George’s Chapel in a red Rolls-Royce after which Prince Charles walked the bride down the aisle.
