The house was initially an eight-bedroom resort-styled house and the couple had purchased it in the year 2014 for $ 7 million. But to make it their dream home, they had to demolish the old house and reconstruct a new mansion on the property. Some real estate agents estimate that converting the old Balinese-type property into a new mansion with a colossal compound would cost the Hemsworth family more than $ 20 million.

The property is nearing completion

Drone footage of the property has revealed that work is almost completed. The construction for the new pad of the Hemsworths had begun at end of 2017 after the Byron Shire Council approved the DA for the knockdown and rebuild of the property in 2016.

There were some delays due to the sheer huge nature of the project. The locals have dubbed it ‘the shopping center’ or ‘fortress Hemsworth’. There was some unrest as well from the locals for various reasons.

Once the project is fully finished, the family will get 6 bedrooms, a gym, a steam room, a media room, a games room, and play areas. There will be a vast area for outdoor living and also a 50m rooftop infinity pool with ocean views.
