Alex Tanas is renowned for being a drummer for Magic!. Magic! is a Canadian reggae fusion band. They are best known for their hit single “Rude”. This single also charted at No. 1 in several countries worldwide.

Alexander Tanasijczuk known as Alex Tanas was born on February 28, 1986, which makes him 32 years old at present. Alex is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter.

His birth sign is Pisces. There is no further information about his parents’ names or the type of job they do. Nor do we have any details about his siblings.

He is of Ukrainian and Irish descent born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His interest in drums began at an early age, he entered drumming at ten years old. Some sources say he attended Earl Haig Secondary School which is also situated in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Alex Tanas started his journey as a drummer when he was 10 years old. Marvelous drumming skills came to him, therefore he is a self-taught drummer. He also says two tapes Green Day’s Dookie and Nirvana’s Nevermind are the ones that taught him how to drum.

He bought those tapes and used to listen to them again and again. Stevie Wonder (an American singer-songwriter) transformed Alex’s rock music into jazz fusion and R&B.

Before joining Magic!, he was with Justin Nozuka (American-Canadian singer-songwriter). Alex toured with Justin Nozuka for six to seven years. He played for two of Justin’s albums around countries like Europe, America, and Canada.

Alex gives a huge shout-out for the experience he gained working with Justin Nozuka. This was when he met Mark Pellizzer. He is also known for being a guitarist and vocalist for the pop-reggae group MAGIC!. His stage name is Mark Pelli.

Start a journey with Magic!

Mark and Alex worked together since they both were in Justin Nozuka’s band. After working with Justin, both moved to LA. This was the time when they wrote the song “Rude”. This song was released back in 2014 and was a huge hit. This was the reason that caused Mark and Alex to stay in LA. And it was a beautiful start to their musical journey with the group Magic!

Alex takes Stewart Copeland (an American musician) as his biggest inspiration who is the drummer of the English rock band the Police. He shares,

“I love the reggae mix feel from the ’70s combined with classic pop drumming and rock flair. His work has inspired me to add in that type of musical genre for Magic!”

Although he is not a jazz player, he loves mixing Chris Dave’s jazz drumming with that of Copeland’s rock form. That excites him. He finds his band members amazing and inspiring which helps him upgrade his love for music.

Most of their songs like Have It All, Gloria, etc. have the 80s musical taste. They are always ready with their catchy songs.
