American basketball player, Dwight Howard, 37 was at one time a sought-after player. Drafter by NBA in 2004, he has won several accolades and awards. But now, he has been frozen out of NBA and plays for Taiwan. Though Dwight plays now for Asia, he still harbors the desire to be part of the USA team for Olympics 2024 in Paris. Dwight Howard and his career

Dwight Howard is a great basketball player whose position is center. NBA drafted him in 2004 in the first round and he was the top pick at that time. True to his first selection, he played well and won several titles.

Dwight was a NBA champion and was All-Star eight times. He was also an All-NBA Team honoree on eight occasions. Additionally, five times he was the member of All-Defensive Team. He won the title Defensive Player of the Year three times.

During the 2004 draf, the six feet 10 inches tall player was selected by Orlando magic. Later, in 2012 and 2013 he played for the Los Angeles Lakers. Dwight was with Houston Rockets from 2013 to 2016. Later, he joined Atlanta Hawks in 2016. For 2017-2018, he played for Charlotte Hornets, from 2018 to 2019, he was with Washington Wizards and in 2019 and 2021, he played for Los Angeles Lakers. In between for 2020-2021, he was in team Philadelphia 76ers.
And now, Dwight plays for Taoyuan Leopards in the T1 League. He is also T1 All-Star.

2024 Olympics and the team

The team USA did not fare well at the recent FIBA World Cup. The team needs a revamp when they play at the Olympics next year in Paris. LeBron James is making a roster of the players he wants in the new team. He has included players like Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, and Kevin Durant.

The roster is looking impressive but Dwight’s name does not surface there yet. And Dwight is very keen to be part of the prospective team USA for the 2024 Olympics. He is so eager for it and feels that he may not be selected. Hence, he threatened LeBron on his Instagram writing:

“I like what I see but don’t leave ya boy out …if ya leave me out I’m playing with Taiwan and I’m dropping 85,”

Shaquille O’Neal who was four times NBA champion shared Dwight’s post on his Instagram story. The Taiwanese team is not entitled for the Olympics. Dwight is enjoying his time abroad with the Asian team and intermittently pokes jokes at LeBron and Chris Paul asking them to join him in Asia.

Dwight was in team USA during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. They won a gold medal that year. He was in his 20s at that time. Will he be selected or not? Time will tell.

Dwight’s relationship history

Dwight has five children and five baby mamas. He had made a paternity agreement with his girlfriend Royce Reed who is mother of his eldest child, Braylon. It stated that everytime she mentions him as her son’s father in public, she will have to pay USD 500. Dwight won a defamation suit against her in 2010 on this matter.

In October 2014, police reached his house when Royce alleged that he hit his son. Dwight admitted that he hit his son with a belt to discipline him. He added that his father had done that to him and he did not think that it was wrong to do so. Later, he had a custody battle about his son with Royce.

Dwight has 20 snakes, cows, hogs, turkeys and deer as pets in his farm in North Georgia.
