Abe collapsed after he was shot at an event in the city of Nara followed by two shots, one in the chest and the second shot hitting him in the back.

Latest Update on the health condition of ex-PM Shinzo Abe
Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, Shinzo Abe received a gunshot in his chest around 11:30 a.m. (10:30 p.m. Thursday ET)in the city of Nara during his election rally and speech.
Abe was rushed to Nara Medical University Hospital while Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that Abe was in a state of cardio and pulmonary arrest immediately after his hospitalization.
As per the Japanese Police, a 41-year-old man Tetsuya Yamagami is the suspect in the shooting, He wanted to kill Abe as he does not like Abe’s political views and his deeds accordingly.
What do the cabinet and ministers of Japan say about the shooting incident?
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said Abe’s condition remained unknown while the shooter was arrested for the shooting. He further said,
Such a barbaric act is utterly unacceptable, and we categorically condemn it
Current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and government ministers who were in the election rally are returning to Tokyo immediately. The ministry responded,
“Former prime minister Abe was shot at around 11:30 am in Nara. One man, believed to be the shooter, has been taken into custody.”

Who is Shinzo Abe?
Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of Japan was the President of the Liberal Democratic Party (2006 to 2007, 2012 to 2020). He acted as the PM of Japan from 26 December 2012 to 16 September 2020.
Likewise, Abe was also the longest-serving Prime Minister of Japan who resigned in August 2020 because of a significant resurgence of his ulcerative colitis. He is a member of the House of Representatives of Japan since 1996.
