Frederik Ronnow began his football career as a youth player at Horsens club Stensballe IK. He played his debut match against Holstebro on 7 September 2011  and won the match by 5–0.

Later, he joined Brøndby IF by signing a four-year contract in July 2015. He played UEFA Europa League for Brondby making two appearances but the team was knocked out by PAOK. The  2017–18 season, was his final season with Brondby where the team finished second in the league and won the cup by beating Silkeborg IF 3–1.

Furthermore, in April 2018 it was reported that Rønnow would join Eintracht Frankfurt. He made his debut on 12 August 2018 in the German Super Cup. However, due to his poor performance, Eintracht loaned Kevin Trapp from Paris Saint-Germain. Later, Trapp signed with Eintracht permanently for the 2018–19 season. However, he got an injury and Rønnow replaced him in first half of the 2019–20 season

Later Frederik Ronnow joined Schalke 04 on a year-long loan on 30 September 2020. He played as the starting goalkeeper by replacing Ralf Fährmann and made 7 Bundesliga appearances. Similarly, he signed a three-year contract with Union Berlin on 20 July 2021. He played his debut match for Union Berlin against Waldhof Mannheim on 27 October which ended in a 3–1 win.

Frederik Ronnow got an opportunity to represent the  Denmark national team when new head coach Åge Hareide called him up on 9 March 2016. He played the friendly match against Iceland and Scotland. Likewise, he was included  in Denmark’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Also, he was selected bid for 2020 UEFA Euro, but couldn’t make an appearance in a single match.
