Proud Parents Gabriel and Callie Smith welcome quadruplets
Gabriel and Callie Smith were already parents to three when they welcomed their quadruplets in June. Despite that, the couple who is based in California said that their new babies made them feel like rookie parents.
Callie, 36, told People,
“It feels like they’re our first kids because they’re our first preemies,”
The mom of seven added,
“It’s definitely been a learning curve,”
“We’ve had to readjust our expectations and we’re just constantly trying to figure it out as we go.”
According to Neonatologist Dr. Huy Truong, when the Smith babies, Norah, Selah, Ezra, and Abigail, were born nine weeks early on June 16, their birth was a seamless operation.
He told the outlet, “The delivery could not have gone better,”
Noting that there is only a one-in-3.5 million chance of welcoming quads, the doctor said,
“After all the preparation and other precautions, it all occurred without any hiccups.”
Huy also said that those on call said that the babies would require oxygen and feeding tubes when they were born. The quads had to be in the NICU at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana where they learned how to breathe and eat on their own over a 40+ day.

Gabrielle and Callie lost a family member during the tough time
Norah and Selah went home at the end of July while Ezra and Abigail stayed there for a week more, their mother says.
Unfortunately, due to feeding issues, Abigal was soon hospitalized where she later underwent a successful surgery to close a blood vessel that ran from her pulmonary artery to her aorta, as per her doctor.
Weeks later, now, the babies are settling into their new routine at home with their family in Upland. The parents talked about how they planned to add just one more baby to their clan, which includes Ariella, 7, and twins Noah and Samara, 4.
Before they found out they were expecting not one but four kids, Callie underwent seven rounds of IUI and had an ectopic pregnancy in just a year.
Gabriel, 37, said that when they found out they were expecting four, it wasn’t a miracle but they were required to go into planning mode.
Just a week after bringing the quads home, safe and sound, Gabriel lost his big brother, 49, to a heart attack.
While he went to be with his family in San Diego, Callie stayed home to look after their 7 kids.
However, the couple faced the tough time with bravery and are now adjusting to life with the help of friends and community church.
