Henry Cavill reveals how his agent told him to not audition for The Witcher!

Henry Cavill is an extremely talented and famous British actor. He is in demand and can pick the roles he wants.

Hence, when the audition for the Netflix show The Witcher came up, his agent told him to not go for it. But Henry did it anyway and won the role as well as accolades for his acting in it.

Henry Cavill is the preferred actor and is in demand in the film world. He is famous for his role as the DCEU’s Superman.

His other iconic roles are in films such as Batman v Superman, Enola Holmes, Man of Steel, and Mission Impossible- Fallout. Moreover, he bagged the role of Geralt in the Netflix show The Witcher. And again his talent shone in it and he was able to prove his mettle.

But did you know that his agent had told him to not audition for this role? When the audition for the show came up in 2017, Henry was very keen to do it.

It is a fantasy TV drama series that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich created for Netflix. It is an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher books and video games. And Henry is fond of the video game.

He knew the character well and was desperate to enact it on TV. The Geralt of Rivia is a mystical monster hunter, with silver hair and glowing eyes.

Henry auditions for the role

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter about how his agent did not want him to audition for the role since Henry was already a big star, Henry narrated:

“I pursued, pursued, pursued.”
“A couple months after they had gone through their casting process, my agent called and said, ‘They’ve asked you do an audition — you don’t have to do this.’ I’m like, ‘I’ll do it.’ They said, ‘Really? Are you sure?’ I said, ‘Of course. It’s The Witcher.’”

And Henry won the role and was elated. He did three seasons of this series and truly owned the role.

Moreover, Henry also got a fat pay cheque for each episode of the series. Considering his huge stature in the industry, his pay cheque was commensurate with it. Henry was paid half a million USD per episode of the show in the first season, Variety states. For the season, he got USD 3.2 million.

In season two, the show producers paid him one million per episode. Thus, for the whole second season, he got USD 11.2 million.

However, in October 2012, Henry announced that he had taken an exit from the show. From the fourth season, Liam Hemsworth would be the Geralt of Rivia. Henry did not reveal the reason for his leaving the show. But fans speculate that it probably was due to creative differences he had with the shoemakers.

Henry’s next series

Henry has brought several characters to life with his superb acting skills. He not only is a big actor in films but has also emerged as the king of the small screen.

And he told his fans that his next big role is for the Warhammer Cinematic Universe. It is in a series based on the famous game, Warhammer 40,000.

Henry will not only act in this series but is also one of its co-executive producers. He revealed that he always wanted to see the Water hHammeruniverse in action.

He is fond of the game. His two decades of experience in the entertainment industry would help him guide the making of the series.

The casting for this series is still in its infancy. There is not much news about the series’s cast or his role. But fans feel that it would be grittier, darker, and more intriguing than his previous characters. Henry wrote on his Instagram:

“To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love,”

There could be rogue psychics and horrific mutations in this new series. The slogan of the series reads:

“In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.”
