Ingrid Seward reveals that Prince Philip had a spiteful nickname for Meghan Markle!

RadarOnline reports that the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had given a nickname to Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle. But the name was not a pleasant one. It was a spiteful one reminiscent of another former royal family member, Wallis Simpson. This revelation is in the upcoming book of Ingrid Seward My Mother and I.

Author Ingrid Seward has written a book titled My Mother and I. It will be released soon. Moreover, in this book, Ingrid has mentioned about what nickname the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip had given to the former Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle who is the wife of Prince Harry, Prince Philip’s grandson.

Ingrid has revealed that Prince Philip used to refer to Meghan as ‘Duchess of Windsor’. This was the title that belonged to Wallis Simpson who had married King Edward VIII.

It may be recalled that King Edward VIII was ready to abdicate the throne for his love, Wallis Simpson who hailed from the USA and was a socialite. King Edward gave up his throne to marry Wallis and the two later fled to France. This was in the year 1937 and there was a lot of controversy around this relationship and wedding of the King with a common person.

Similarities between Meghan Markle and Wallis Simpson

Prince Philip strongly felt that there was a lot of similarities between Wallis Simpson and Meghan Markle. They had physical similarities; both were pencil-slim with dark hair. Moreover, both were from glamorous backgrounds. Meghan was an American actress while Wallis was an elite and wealthy socialite. Additionally, both were divorcees.

Wallis was first married to Earl Winfield Spencer Jr. who was with the US Navy. Meghan had her first marriage to American film producer, Trevor Engelson in 2011. However, the two separated and divorced in 2014. Later, she dated and wed Prince Harry in 2018. Moreover, both turned out to be house breakers who took away the royal member away to the USA forever. Meghan and Harry are now residing at Montecito in California in the USA since January 2020.

However, the late Queen Elizabeth II had a positive opinion about Meghan when she first met her through Prince Harry in 2016. She had approved their relationship. But she was only not in favor of Meghan wearing a white wedding dress because it was her second marriage.

Similarities between Prince Harry and King Edward VIII

In 2022, royal writer Hugo Vickers had stated that there was a striking similarity between Prince Harry and King Edward VIII. Both these former royal family members were saddened after they broke their ties with the royal household of the UK and stepped down from their royal duties. Hugo noted that both thought that marriage would give them happiness. But the fact is that happiness comes only after performing one’s duties. Hugo had said:

“The Duke of Sussex looks thoroughly miserable.”

Meghan had not attended the funeral ceremony of Prince Philip. She was pregnant at that time and chose to not travel to London for it.
