And in 1968 he had fled to Québec and worked as a cook, and chauffeur for grocery as well as with textile millionaire Georges Deslauriers for a few months.

In 1969, he started kidnapping and kidnapped Deslauriers, but it went wrong due to the fact that the ‘knock out drops’ they used were inert.

In the year 1972, he had returned to France where he resumed robbing banks. He was arrested for 3 days and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in the year 1973.

In the same year, he had covertly written and smuggled out an autobiography that had claimed to have committed upwards of forty murders. The appearance of his book resulted to stop criminals from profiting from the publication of their crimes.

In 1978, Jacques Mesrine had produced a gun, stole keys, and, with François Besse. In the same year, he had kidnapped a judge who had sentenced him. The next passing year he had kidnapped a millionaire real estate and received a ransom of six million francs.

In the same year, he had shot Tiller in the face, leg, and arm but he survived the ordeal, although he lost the use of one arm.
