Jansen Panettiere, the brother of Hayden Panettiere, sadly passed away at the young age of 28. The actor died in New York City over the weekend.

TMZ first broke the news with a family source reportedly telling the news outlet that the beloved actor died in New York over the weekend.

According to the law enforcement department, they received a call to his home on February 19, Sunday at around 5:30 pm.

According to TMZ, no foul play is suspected for his death. However, the cause of death remains unknown as of now.

Jansen reportedly suffered from anxiety and depression prior to his death

From Jansen Panettier’s official website biography, it has been revealed that he was struggling with ‘terrible anxiety and depression’ as an adult. The condition was triggered while he was living in L.A.

It states:

“After spending time in LA as an adult he was ridden with terrible anxiety and depression.”

It added:

“This period in his life eventually produced a spiritual clarity that drove him to start painting his problems, one by one. With more than 50 pieces, Jansen continues to heal himself as well as others with his visceral and emotive work.”

The actor was living in an apartment in Nyack, New York, near the town of Palisades, where the two siblings grew up.

A number of stars grew up in the area including Angelina Jolie, Al Pacino, Bill Murray, and Diane Sawyer.

Jansen Panettiere followed his sister’s footsteps into Hollywood. He made his debut with a minor role in the Disney Channel Original Movie Tiger Cruise, which starred his sister Hayden. Other than this, The Forger was the only other movie they both starred in together.

In 2007, Jansen provided the voice of Truman X in The X’s and played Lucas Malloy in the made-for-TV movie The Last Day of Summer.

A year later, he starred in The Perfect Game, directed by William Dear and based on a true story about a group of boys from Monterrey, Mexico who won the Little League World Series. However, it was later postponed to the spring of 2010.

He also made an appearance in The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry. In March 2012, he portrayed the role of Elliott Perry in Dustin Lance Black’s play 8, a reenactment of the Perry v. Schwarzenegger.

In 2019, Jansen made a guest appearance on the AMC series The Walking Dead and co-starred in MTV’s How High 2.
