Professional baseball player Javier Lopez started his career journey from the South Bend Silver Hawks to the A Midwest League as a starting pitcher. He moved to bullpen thinking that he won’t get to major leagues as a starter. He began the season with Arizona’s A-Advanced affiliate which is now ‘Lancaster jetHawks’.

In December 2002, he joined Boston Red Sox where he played as a left-handed specialist. He joined Colorado Rockies in the year of 2003 but after playing for two years he left it in 2005 to join ‘Arizona Diamondbacks’. In Arizona Diamondback he couldn’t do well and granted free agency. In 2006, he joined ‘Chicago White Sox’ organization and competed with Boone Logan for the left-handed specialist.

He lost the competition with him and he joined ‘Boston Red Sox’. He was traded to Boston Red Sox for David Riske. He played for Red Fox till 2009 and then in 2010, he joined Pittsburg Pirates. He signed a one-year contract with Pittsburg Pirated replacing John Grabow. After a year he joined San Francisco Giants where he contributed to his retirement. Lopez announced his retirement on February 8, 2017.
