Jeremy Wade and his education and career

Jeremy Wade’s full name is Jeremy John Wade. He was born on 23 March 1956 in Ipwich in Suffolk in England, the UK. But he grew up in Nayland where his father worked as a vicar. Jeremy joined Dean Close School and later graduated from Bristol University with a degree in zoology. He also holds a postgraduate teaching certificate in biological sciences that he obtained from the University of Kent.

The biologist travels a lot and specializes in natural history. His main passion is fishing and he has fished a lot especially in the remote areas of the Amazon and the Congo. He was just 16 when he joined the British Carp Study Group. He gave up fishing for a while but revived it in 1982. He traveled extensively to Asian regions. Jeremy contracted malaria several times during these trips. But luckily, he managed to recover from all of those episodes. He also did a lot of odd jobs in between including dishwashing for a living.

Jeremy started writing books in early 1990s on angling and these books were quite popular. He looks out for rare creatures of this world and films them. He has done several shows for British television on his travel hunts and fishing. During one of these adventures, Jeremy was caught for spying. He also had near-drowning once but survived. Moreover, this explorer also managed to survive a plane crash.

Jeremy’s most popular TV shows are River Monsters, Dark Waters, and Mighty Rivers. In 2007, he also did Jungle Hooks. Being a lamprey expert, in 2014, he had the show Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys on TV. He also did Mysteries of the Deep in 2020. And now, Jeremy hosts the show Unknown Waters with Jeremy Wade that is running from 2021 on National Geographic Channel.

As regards Jeremy’s family, it is known that he has a brother called Martin Wade. But not much information is available about his married life.
