Johnnie Cochran was an American lawyer. People mostly know him for his leadership role in the defense and criminal acquittal in the O.J. Simpson case. Additionally, he has also represented Sean Combs, Michael Jackson, Tupac, and Todd Bridges among others.
Johnnie Cochran’s Early Life, Childhood, and Education
Cochran was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 2, 1937, to parents Hattie Bass Cochran and Johnnie L Cochran Sr. Margarita Olivarez and Johnnie Cochran, Sr. His father was an insurance salesman and his mother sold Avon Products. He was of American nationality. Furthermore, he belonged to African-American ethnic background.

Talking about his education, Cochran attended local schools. Later, he graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1955. Additionally, he also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Johnnie Cochran’s Career
Cochran initially worked in Los Angeles as a deputy city attorney in the criminal division. Soon, he started his own firm, Cochran, Atkins & Evans, in Los Angeles.
Eventually, he became a familiar face and established his reputation in the African-American community. Additionally, he opened the Johnnie L Cochran Jr. law firm. Furthermore, he received widespread fame after he took the case of O. J. Simpson. He came up with the famous phrase “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”
Cochran also represented Abner Louima and Sean Combs. Sean was acquitted after Cochran effectively fought for his freedom. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2003.
He died on March 29, 2005, at his home in Los Angeles. In addition, Courtney B. Vance played Cochran in ‘The People v.s O. J. Simpson’.
