Katie Holmes wants her daughter Suri to have a normal life

Katie Holmes said that she is very protective of her daughter Suri Cruise who grew up with the world watching her every move.

The actress who recently appeared on the cover of Glamour said in the magazine’s cover story published on Wednesday,

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,”

The Dawson’s Creek alum who talks very less about her daughter in public said that she is grateful to be the teenager’s mother.

The 44-year-old actress added,

“She’s an incredible person,”

The public and paparazzi became more and more obsessed with Suri due to her parents’ unconventional relationship.

And when the couple’s marriage ended in 2011, the desire to know the little girl increased even more.

Tom, 60, started becoming estranged from his baby girl following his divorce from Katie. The father-daughter duo’s relationship hasn’t recovered to this day.

Sources revealed in March that the Hollywood legend has not interacted with his now-teen daughter in a long time and doesn’t play any part in her life.

During a deposition for his 2012 defamation lawsuit against Baueredia, the Mission Impossible actor acknowledged that his faith in the Church of Scientology did indeed play a massive role in his strained relationship with his child.

When asked whether Katie ended their marriage in order to protect their daughter from Scientology, Tom replied at the time,

“That was one of the assertions, yes.”

Later transcripts revealed that Cruise had not seen Suri for months after his spilt with Holmes.

Suri helps Holmes with her movies

Katie who recently became single after ending her relationship with Bobby Wooten III in December 2022 also noted in the interview that her daughter always contributes something to her films.

She said that she used Suri’s cover of The Marcel’s Blue Moon in the opening credits of her 2022 film Alone Together.

Additionally, Suri also sings in her mom’s forthcoming directorial debut project Rare Objects.

Holmes said that the film was a “difficult one to shoot.” since it follows a young woman who tries to live a new life in NYC after a tumultuous past which included a sexual assault scene.

Holmes said of the film,

“To me, unfortunately, [sexual assault] is an understood secret amongst women, so we don’t have to share too much to know what we’re talking about,”

She also added that ‘‘everybody was pretty shaken up” after shooting the scene.
