Khaya Dladla and her engagement last weekend

The last weekend saw a number of celebrity engagements. And South African actress and TV host, Khaya Dladla also announced that she has engaged.

She will soon be walking down the aisle with her boyfriend-turned-fiance, Mercutio Buthelezi. The former Uzalo star shared the happy news with her Instagram fans.

Update: Khaya Dladla and Mercutio Buthelezi called off their engagement as per the reports in June 2022.

Khaya uploaded a video of the occasion. It was a surprise proposal from her long-term boyfriend, Mercutio Buthelezi. In it, after he proposed to her, Khaya can be seen speechless.

The place of the proposal was Ocean Reef Hotel in Zinkwazi, on the Dolphin Coast, which is to the north of Durban. During this proposal, Khaya was in a purple suit. Her feet were covered in white heels. While Mercutio was wearing a black suit for the occasion.

After the video, Khaya also uploaded a photo on her Instagram. It was of the couple at their engagement. And Khaya captioned this photo:

“So he proposed and I SAID YES”

Mercutio also shared the news on his social media and wrote:

“Our moment has finally arrived and his officially mine.”

The engagement was in front of friends during what Khaya thought was an ordinary party. It is not exactly known for many years the two are in a relationship. But they had been setting relationship goals on their social media often.  Their love has only grown stronger with the years and the two are inseparable now. Congratulatory messages started pouring in as soon as the announcement was made. Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung wrote:

“I can’t wait to host u (you) for a celebration party,”

Ayanda Thabethe commented:

“So happy for you guys!”

Last week, Mercutio gifted her a rose bouquet and Khaya showed it off on her Instagram and wrote below it:

“It’s official… We are definitely Not “Love Lives Here” anymore?. Phela manje love resides in us……. We are now “Loves Natural Habitat”. Thank you my Shenge @mercutio_buthelezi.”

Khaya and her COVID-19 battle

Khaya was down with COVID-19 earlier this year. In July 2020, Khaya wrote about her recovery process on her social media for her fans. She wrote:

“I’m living proof of beating Covid-19. 14 days of isolation have been a journey of introspection, new habits, and (the) return of some old ones.

“This journey has been an emotional and psychological battle. The day people understand the power of mind, the better. As soon as your mind tells your lungs you can’t breathe … you will not breathe. As soon as your mind tells your body you are dying … You will die.”
