On 2 March 2012, he was traded to Tulsa 66ers of the D-League but sign him back with the Thunder on 4 March 2012. Hayward and his team Thunder reached the 2012 NBA Finals but lost against Miami Heat. On 27 October 2012, he was traded to Houston Rockets but soon left the team. On 31 December 2012, he rejoined the Timberwolves but released on 6 January 2013 and again joined with a 10 days contract. After 10 days, he joined Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League but after a sustaining injury, he was released on 4 April 2013.

In September 2013, he signed with New Orleans Pelicans but released him just after a month. Then he rejoined D-Fenders on 29 January 2016. On 1 November 2016, he was hired by Long Island Nets but released him after 3 months in the team. On 11 February 2017, he signed with Guaros de Lara of the LPB and since then he has been playing from there.
