She is the best Mexican runner and also the best around the world in 400 meters. In 1998, she won the first silver medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games. After a year in 1999, she won a gold medal in the Pan-American Games in Canada.

The athlete then got the opportunity to take part in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In the game, she successfully achieved the fifth position. Back in 2005, she also set a new personal record of 48.89 seconds. This made her the woman with the 9th fastest time in history.
