Now the wedding is over, Lionel Richie can finally talk about all the emotions he felt while his daughter Sofia Richie married her fiance Elliot Grainge.
The legendary singer opened up about the lavish South of France ceremony saying he cried enough for the past few days.
The 24-year-old model and her music executive beau, 30, said I DO at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes in front of friends and family on Saturday.
Lionel, 73, was one of the happiest people that day. In a recent interview, he said,
“Listen to me, I’ve cried enough,”
“Baby girl got married. When I say that… it’s a great feeling,”
The musician who is set to perform at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony next month said,
”I must say, I’ve known Elliot since he was 9 years old. So I know the groom really well. There’s a thing down South we always say: ‘Who’s your people?’ Well, I know his people, so it really is a real wonder to see them in love and just as happy as I’ve ever seen my little girl and Elliot.”

Lionel is happy to be gaining a family member
The wedding guests included Paris Hilton and her husband Carter Reum, Cameron Diaz, and Benji Madden.
The All Night Long singer added,
“It was a moment where, yes, I was letting her go, but I was also gaining a family,”
“The family is getting huge right about now, but we are happy.”
The 4-time Grammy winner added,
“She spent the whole time walking down the aisle: ‘I love you dad, I love you dad, I love you dad,’ and I go… ‘You’re killing me. You’re killing me.’ But that’s what a dad wants to hear, and I love Baby Girl so much, and the family was there to root her on,”
A TikTok video of the father-daughter walking down the aisle arm-in-arm went viral where the proud dad can be heard saying, “That’s my kid!”
Later the musical legend wrote on Instagram,
“My little girl is all grown up and starting her own journey with the love of her life. You’ll always be my little bird, but I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Endless Love to you and Elliot,”
As for the couple’s dance, the newlyweds chose to dance to Stuck On You by Lionel himself.
Sofia and Elliot announced engagement on April 2022 and the two started dating in 2021.
