Matthew McConaughey and Camila McConaughey’s heartfelt birthday tributes for Daughter Vida

Matthew McConaughey and Camila McConaughey recently celebrated their daughter Vida’s 15th birthday with heartfelt tributes shared on social media.
On Saturday, January 4, the Interstellar actor, 55, posted a nostalgic photo of Vida as a child playing in the dirt, accompanied by a touching caption. The caption reads,
“Vida. 15 years. Thanks for being my tech guru, so savvy, and for loving to grow things.”
He then concluded the caption with “Love, Papai,” which translates to the Portuguese word for “daddy,” as Camila is Brazilian.
The 41-year-old model, for her part, shared a carousel of photos capturing various moments of Vida’s life.
One photo shows a young Vida lying in bed with her baby brother Livingston, who is now 12 years old, as she reads him a book.
Another image features her as a child, holding a chameleon and looking at it closely.
Additionally, there is a picture of her from behind, dressed in a white top while gently petting a horse in an open field.
The last picture in Camila’s Instagram post shows her and her daughter Vida happily smiling and taking a selfie together.
She then wrote in the caption,
“Yesterday this force of a girl turned 15! May you never forget that the first person to love is YOU… Your name says it all. Vida! We love you so much words can not express!”
The other family members also celebrated Vida’s birthday with heartfelt messages including her 16-year-old brother, Levi, who posted on Instagram to wish her a happy birthday.
In his post, he shared a photo of them dressed as Tinker Bell and Batman for Halloween, and a picture of them hugging as toddlers.
He expressed his love by writing,
“Happy 15th birthday sis love you,”
Matthew McConaughey reflects on fatherhood and family life
The McConaughey family generally keeps their children out of the public eye but sometimes shares moments from their lives on social media.
However, Vida occasionally appears on her parents’ social media accounts and has recently been attending more public events with them.
In June 2024, she joined her mother, Camila, at a Hermes Birkin event in New York City, where they both wore matching red outfits.
Matthew has previously mentioned how becoming a father has positively impacted his life and creative work. He said,
“Having children, I know, has made me a better artist and has made me a better actor, because kids see things for the first time all the time. Their questions are innocent,”
“I cannot tell them what the show’s really about, it’s not age-appropriate. So I have to go into a parable for them. … I had to become a better storyteller to tell my kids about a good guy, a bad guy and a monster.”
In February 2019, he shared with PEOPLE that he views his children as his “living legacy.” He said at the time,
“I’ve got a large hand in shepherding my three children up until they’re 18 and out of the house. Yeah, see if I hold on to my words in a few years. That’s the thing I think I do most honorably is having three autonomous, conscientious, confident children.”
