World-renowned legendary musician, Michael Bolton has brain tumor. The diagnosis was made last year in December and Michael has undergone a surgery for it. He revealed the sad news to his fans on his social media.

Michael Bolton diagnosed with brain tumor

The end of last year brought in some bad news for the legendary musician, Michael Bolton, 70. He was diagnosed with brain tumor in December 2023. Oncology surgeons have already performed surgery on his brain and skull to remove the tumorous mass. Michael revealed this health news on his social media recently.

On 5 January 2024, Michael gave a health update. He wrote:

“I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges,”
“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery. Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family,”

Will Michael be able to do his concerts and tours?

Michael added that he does not want to disappoint his fans. But he has now to focus his time and energy on his recovery. And hence he will not be able to do his scheduled tours and music. He continued:

“It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

The singer expressed his gratefulness to his fans who had showered him with so much of love through the years. He wrote:

“I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB.”

Michael’s career and family

Michael has a long-spanning career and has sold more than 75 million records. Moreover, his music was of high level and fetched him several awards and nominations. These included the prestigious Grammy awards two in number and American music awards, six in number.

Over the last decade or so, Michael had slowed down on his new music creation. He had not released any album. But during the covid lockdown, he was inspired again to make music to spread joy to his fans.

And it was only in July 2023 that he released an album called Spark of Light. He wanted to perform songs from this album and was gearing up to have several shows across Europe and the USA. After that, he wanted to reveal his tour hiatus.

But destiny had something else in store for him. Now, he will not be able to perform for some time while he recuperates from his surgery and illness.

Michael has three daughters from his ex-wife, Maureen McGuire (1975 to 1990). They are Holly, Isa, and Taryn. He has six grandchildren.

In 1992, he started a relationship with actress, Nicollette Sheridan. They split in 1995. Later, in 2005, the two rekindled their romance. Michael proposed to her in March 2005 and she said yes. However, in August 2008 came the sad news that their engagement was called off.
