He got the opportunity to play for the rookie-level team Orem Owlz in the same year and he got promoted to Cedar Rapids Kernels the very next year.

Unfortunately, he has an elbow fracture and had reconstruction surgery, and only played three games in 2013.

Later, Mike Clevinger was traded to Cleveland Indians for Vinnie Pestano on August 7, 2014, and played with Minor League Baseball’s Akron RubberDucks, going 9-8 with a 2.73 earned run average (ERA) in 2015.

He debuted his Major League Baseball debut on May 18, 2016, but he had to return to the minor leagues after and played the next three months with the Columbus Clippers earning 11 wins, a loss, and a 3.00 ERA.

On August 4, 2016, Mike Clevinger was called back in a game against Minnesota Twins and played 17 games in the season.
