Millie Bobby Brown recalls near-loss of her engagement ring

British actress, Millie Bobby Brown is now the fiancee of American actor and model, Jake Bongiovi. Jake proposed to her in a very unconventional way.

Jake asked Millie for her hand in marriage during an underwater dive. On 29 February 2024, Millie had appeared on the Jimmy Fallon’s talk show. On “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, Millie gave minute details of how Jake had proposed to her. The two love diving and had procured their diving licenses together. Millie narrated:

“So we go under, and we’re like many meters down. And he gives me a shell, and I turn it over, and it’s a ring. And I looked at him and he was like “bllllll!”

Further, she recalled:

“Anyways, he puts the ring on my hand, and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets so fast it was like a cinematic movie.”

Millie revealed that it was Jake who did a quick dive and grabbed the ring before it had time to fall deeper into the ocean and onto the ocean bed. She also stated that their instructor wore a worried look when Jake dived after the falling engagement ring.

Millie continued:

“Jake threw himself into the… like, so deep. The diver was like ‘You can’t do that, your ears. Literally, your brain will explode.’ He does a cinematic grab, and he saved the ring,”
“And I truly feel like it’s a reflection of who he is, and we’re always going to have each other’s back, and if anyone drops the ball, we got it.”

The second engagement ring

Jake had confided in Millie’s mother about his plan to propose to her daughter before they went for the underwater dive. And Millie’s mother had advised him to buy a separate ring for the underwater proposal. She told him to keep the original engagement ring safely at home and give it to Millie later on. This was to prevent any eventuality of loss of engagement ring with the underwater currents. Millie elaborated:

“‘I bought you this ring because your mom wouldn’t let me take her ring,’ which is the one I’m wearing, this is her ring,” Brown explained. “My Mom was like ‘Absolutely not Jake, you’re not taking my ring down there, I know you’ll drop it.’ And sure enough, I did.”

Millie and Jake were first just friends. But in 2021, they started a relationship. They announced their romance on their Instagram in November 2021. They celebrated 2021 Christmas together. In April 2023, fans noticed an engagement ring in Millie’s left ring finger. They speculated that the two had a secret engagement and their speculation was right.
