Subsequently, he joined the youth setup of the Spanish club, Real Valladolid, in October 2017. In 2019, he made his professional debut with the senior Valladolid squad.

All total he had 34 appearances for Valladolid before joining the Southampton club on 12 August 2020. He signed a four-year professional contract with Southampton worth, a £10.9 million fee.

He made his first goal against Sheffield United in the EFL Cup, on 21 September 2021.

International Career

Receiving the first call in Ghana’s senior squad for 2021, he made his debut game for the African Cup of national qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe.

The president of the Ghana FA, Kurt Okraku, announced that he finally agreed to represent the Black Stars in July 2022.

On 23 September 2022, he made his debut for Ghana during a friendly match against Brazil as a second-half substitute. However, the game ended 3-0.

Shortly after, he made his first brace in a friendly, match against Switzerland, with a defeat against Switzerland by 2-0.

As of 29 November 2022, Mohammed Salisu is an active player who is representing Ghana and has made his first brace during the 2022 FIFA World Cup against South Korea.
