Olivia Munn’s Journey: Freezing Eggs and Expanding Family Amidst Health Challenges

In May, Olivia Munn shared with Vogue that following her breast cancer diagnosis, she and John decided to freeze the eggs. She said in the interview,

“We decided to try one more round of egg retrievals because John and I talked about it a lot and we don’t feel like we’re done growing our family.”

The X-Men: Apocalypse actress revealed she has frozen her eggs three times in her life. She first did this when she was 33 years old, then again at 39, and most recently at 42, after receiving her breast cancer diagnosis.

Similarly, Munn shared her thoughts on the egg-freezing process, noting that while her eggs at 33 were of high quality, none of the eggs retrieved at 39 were viable. So, her doctor placed her on a special cancer protocol for egg retrieval. During this final round of egg retrieval, Munn’s doctor used a special protocol that involved lower doses of hormones due to her health condition.

Although they initially hoped to retrieve ten eggs, they ended up with seven. Fortunately, they later learned that two of those eggs developed into healthy embryos. Munn expressed gratitude for the options available to her after her cancer journey, acknowledging the emotional and physical challenges she faced.

She also discussed the impact of undergoing a hysterectomy in April 2024, which meant she would not be able to carry another child herself. Despite this, she remains optimistic about using a surrogate to fulfill their family plans.
