Olivia Munn gets immense support during tough time

Olivia Munn is grateful to all her fans and friends for their great support since she announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

The X-Men: Apocalypse star, 43, revealed on Wednesday that she recently underwent four surgeries including a double mastectomy.

Munn wrote on her IG Story, less than a day after opening up about her cancer battle,

“I’m really grateful for all the love and support I’ve received about my diagnosis that I shared yesterday,”

“Reading your stories and comments has really meant a lot to me and I just wanted to express my gratitude for all of it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

How did doctors discover Munn’s cancer?

Munn revealed that she initially tested negative for the BRCA gene in February 2023. It is the most popular gene to cause cancer.

Her mammogram was also very clear. However, her doctors decided to calculate her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score as a precaution.

The actress who has been dating comedian John Mulaney since 2021 wrote in a lengthy statement,

“The fact that she did saved my life,” 

Her  OB/GYN Dr. Thais Aliabadi, whom she calls her guardian angel, eventually ordered a biopsy that confirmed that she had luminal B cancer in both breasts, which is an “aggressive, fast-moving cancer.”

“I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next,” 

“I’m lucky. We caught it with enough time that I had options.”

Munn thanked her boyfriend, friends, and family for their incredible support.

She added,

“I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” 

“For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
