PnB Rock murder 2022
On 12 September 2022, American rapper, PnB Rock whose real name is Rakim Hasheem Allen was dining at the Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles on the main street near Manchester Avenue in South Angeles with his girlfriend, Stephanie.
Suddenly, a 17-year-old teen entered the restaurant wearing a ski mask, and demanded that the rapper should hand over his gold jewelry to him. Simultaneously, the boy also opened fire on him.
As the musician fell, the teen removed his gold items and fled in a car that was waiting outside. The driver of the car was the boy’s father, Freddie Trone. Soon after, PnB was taken to the local hospital but was declared dead on arrival. He had multiple gunshot wounds on him.
Subsequently, the police arrested three people: the 17-year-old whose identity has not been revealed, his father Freddie Trone and am unrelated person, Tremont Jones.
Ongoing trial of the crime
The crime case is under trial in the Los Angeles court. Prosecutors had framed charges against all three. Moreover, they state that Freddie had directed his son to do the theft and murder. However, Freddie’s defence lawyers state that Freddie was only an accessory in the crime.
However, the Los Angeles court found the father aged 42 guilty of the crime. He has been charged on one count of first degree murder, two counts of second degree robbery and one count of doing a conspiracy of the crime.
The teen also has charges of murder and robbery on him but until now, he has not been able to stand in court for the trial.
Additionally, the third person, Tremont Jones has also charges against him similar to that of Freddie’s. The sentencing for Tremont and Freddie will be done on 27 August 2024. They might get a death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.
Role of the three criminals
Deputy District Attorney Timothy Richardson narrated in court that Freddie drove his son to the scene of the crime with the motive to steal jewelry that they valued was around USD half a million worth. Tremont had given the message about PnB’s location to Freddie.
Though the defence lawyers argued and stated that Freddie was not present at the crime scene and gave no directions, the judge pronounced him guilty. After the conviction, District Attorney Gascón said:
“Justice has been served for Mr Allen (PnB Rock) and his family who have endured unimaginable pain losing a loved one to such senseless violence,”
He added:
“Let this serve as a clear message to anyone who threatens the safety and well-being of our community: our office will relentlessly pursue charges and work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”
