A pregnant woman dies on the way to deliver her baby

On Monday, January 22, Pregnant Desiree Strout was on the way to deliver her third baby. While she was on the way to Remington-Fairway General Hospital in Skowhegan, her joy turned into horror as her vehicle went into the black ice and crashed into a frozen pond.

After the accident, she was rushed into the ambulance and died on the way to the emergency room. The miracle happened when the baby who was delivered through the C-section survived.

Later on, the baby boy was transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Harry Weeks who was in the vehicle suffered a punctured lung and a lacerated liver. Moreover, her eighth old daughter who was in the vehicle got just minor injuries.

The Skowhegan Police Chief David Buckham stated the accident saying:

“It was not speed. She just hit the black ice and lost control.”

Moreover, Clark told to Central Maine:

“Her oldest daughter, Delanie, is such a smart little cookie and I know Desiree home-schooled her kids, so you could tell, it was evident, that she spent a lot of time with them and teaching them. She was a sweetheart — her parents are my neighbors.”

Strout’s uncle Dana Weeks said that she had a big smile on her face. No doubt, she had a lot of excitement about welcoming her newborn in her arms. But then things went to the dark side and she lost her life on her way to the delivery.

Week told to the local News:

“Now the little man’s empty-handed, you can find a dad figure any place, but moms are golden. You aint gonna find that ever place, you can’t. You can’t replace a mom, not in my book.”
