Queen Letizia had an extramarital affair with her future brother-in-law, Jamie del Burgo!

The current Queen of Spain, Queen Letizia, is in news lately but for wrong reasons. The book Letizia y yo (Letizia and I), written by the royal author, Jaime Peñafiel, reveals that the queen was in an extramarital relationship with her long term friend, Jamie del Burgo, who later married her sister.

Queen Letizia and her extramarital relationship

The royal reporter, Jaime Peñafiel, has penned a book called Letizia y yo (Letizia and I). It talks about the extramarital affair of Queen Letizia, 51 with her long term friend, Jamie del Burgo. The two were in a relationship before her marriage to King Felipe VI. And the romantic relationship continued even after her marriage for few years.

The book talks about claims made by Jamie del Burgo, 53. The businessman has stated that the two continued to love and date each other even after Letizia wed King Felipe on  22 May 2004.

Jamie states that she said that she loved him as they lay by the pool in hammocks in the royal residence of La Zarzuela. That inspired him to write a play in English called The Hammocks but he did not publish it.

Jamie adds that he was carrying an engagement ring and planned to propose to her. But she later went on to announce about her forthcoming wedding to Prince Felipe.

More revelation from Jamie

Jamie adds that on the night of her marriage to Prince Felipe, Letizia begged him to not leave her. Subsequently, Jamie wed her sister, Telma Ortiz in 2012. But the marriage collapsed and they separated in 2014.

The businessman also revealed that for five years after that, Jamie was under the surveillance of Spain’s CNI secret service. In order to get some evidence, they even broke into Jamie’s home in Switzerland. But they could get nothing because Jamie had kept all the incriminating materials-photos, videos, mobile phones, text messages in safe custody in a bank vault.

Jamie wrote on his X handle that the book has not told the whole truth. He claimed that during the initial years of her marriage, their courtship had continued. He also posted a photo on his social media. The pic is of the queen when she was pregnant. He claims that she had sent him that photo along with the message:

Love. I am wearing your pashmina. It is like feeling you by my side. It looks after me. Protects me. I am counting the hours until we see each other again, love you, get out of here. Yours.”

Jamie is the son of a politician. He shuttles for work between London and Switzerland.

The Queen and her relationships

Letizia had her first marriage to writer and high school teacher of literature, Alonso Guerrero Pérez. They dated for ten years before exchanging wedding vows on 7 August 1998 in Almendralejo, Badajoz. It was a simple civil ceremony. But they divorced in 1999.
