He began his career with Bayern Munich. He was spotted by their scouts in the 2007 Champions Youth Cup while playing for Die Roten.

The player joined the Italian club, Sampdoria on 2 Feb 2009. And after a year, he was loaned to Serie B side Empoli. Likewise, on 31 August 2015, Soriano signed a contract with Napoli worth €13.5m. But the transfer fell through as Napoli did not deposit the contract before the deadline.

Then he reached an agreement with Spanish club Villarreal CF on 2 August 2016. It was a five-year contract, for a reported fee of €14 million. His first match from the club was against  Granada in La Liga.

Roberto joined the Italian club, Torino, on 17 August 2018. And then afterward he was taken by bologna on loan with an option to buy on 4 January 2019. He is currently playing from Bologna.
