Ryan Mallett is no longer alive among us! The former NFL quarterback died at the young age of 35.
On Tuesday, June 27, he was discovered unconscious on a beach in Destin, Florida, where he was reportedly on vacation with his new girlfriend Madison Carter. He had apparently drowned, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 2:00 p.m., rescue teams were called to the seashore after reports that a number of people were struggling to make their way back to shore from a nearby sandbar.

The authorities said,
“A group of people in the water near the second sandbar had reportedly been struggling to make their way back to shore. One of the individuals, an adult male, went under and lifeguards say he was not breathing when pulled out. Lifesaving measures were immediately undertaken but the man was pronounced deceased at the Destin Emergency Room.”
However, it was later identified as Mallett who submerged and was rescued from the water by lifeguards. When lifeguards retrieved him, he was not breathing, so he was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The football world is mourning the death of Ryan Mallett
As soon as his death was confirmed fans and friends were quick to express their grief over Ryan’s passing via social media platforms.
Arkansas’ football program issued a heartfelt statement paying tribute to the beloved Ryan Mallett. The statement reads,
“We are shocked and saddened by the passing of Ryan Mallett. He was a Razorback legend with larger-than-life talent and a personality to match. He led our program to some of our best moments in recent memory. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother Debbie and his extended family.”
Mallett was picked in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, where he spent three seasons as Tom Brady‘s backup.
The team also mourned the loss of their fellow former player, writing,
“The New England Patriots are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of former quarterback Ryan Mallett. Our thoughts are with the Mallett family, his former teammates and all who are mourning his loss.”
While one fan referred him to as “the best QB in Razorback history”, stating,
“Said many times that Ryan Mallett was the best QB in Razorback history. Skill set unmatched. Great competitor & his teammates loved him. Some of his throws & moments are burned forever in my Hog memory. RIP one five. Razorback Nation forever grateful.”
