It’s over for Sam Asghari and Britney Spears

Sam Asghari and Britney Spears are no longer a married couple. A source confirmed to TMZ that the pair called it quits on their marriage after 14 months of marriage.

The fitness trainer, 29, filed for divorce from the pop star citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation.

He listed July 28, 2023, as their separation date. Asghari has also asked to pay the spousal support and his attorney’s fees.

According to court documents, Sam could challenge their prenuptial agreement if Britney wouldn’t pay him more than what their prenup provides in order to keep her secrets.

“[He] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party. There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time,”

A source told Page Six,

“He [Sam Asghari] is attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

In September 2021, the now-former couple got engaged after nearly five years of dating.

The duo then exchanged vows less than one year of engagement in a star-studded ceremony at Spears’ mansion in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

In June 2022, Britney reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement with her now-estranger husband, Sam Asghari before their marriage.

The pop star allegedly signed the document to protect her multimillion-dollar earnings from her decades-long music career. A source told Page Six,

“Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favor, Any money she made before the wedding is protected.”

Sam also confirmed via an Instagram story at that time revealing they have had a prenup.

“My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations! We both love every single one of you! Thank you for your concern about the prenup! Of course we’re getting ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”

Sam and Britney’s marriage reportedly has been on the rock for quite some time.

In March, rumors began circulating that the pair were having marital issues after they were spotted without their wedding bands.

However, Asghari’s rep, Brandon Cohen shut down the rumors at that time clarifying he took off his ring because he was filming a movie.

The Baby One More Time singer reportedly cheated on Asghari right before their breakup. The divorce filing came shortly after TMZ reported that they had had a “nuclear argument” and Sam had moved out of their home.

As of now, he is living in a place of his own. An insider told the outlet,

“It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce.”
