Sanya Richards-Ross and Aaron Ross are expanding their family. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum, 38, exclusively told PEOPLE that she and Aaron are expecting their third child together.

The happy news comes a month after the couple suffered a tragic marriage expressing her enthusiasm to become a mother again after miscarrying. She told the outlet,

“I didn’t realize until then how much I really wanted to become a mom again and how much of a blessing it is to be a mom,”

In addition, she also revealed her due date on December 25, 2023, while acknowledging she is eagerly waiting to welcome her new bundle of joy. She said,

“It’s going to be the best Christmas gift ever. But I just couldn’t be happier and more clear about. I know I can do this. I’ve done it before. I have the support. I know what to expect. I’m so ready to meet this little one.”

Sanya and Aaron are already a parent to 6-month-old son Aaron Jermaine.

“When I tell you my son was asking for this literally every day. ‘I want to be a big brother. I want to be a big brother.’ So he was over the moon when we shared with him that I was pregnant,”

In an interview with PEOPLE, Sanya Richards-Ross revealed she had a miscarriage of her second child, whose journey was captured on the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

During the mid-season trailer, she can be seen showing a positive test to her husband, which aired earlier this month. Unfortunately, she suffered a tragic miscarriage just two months after she announced her pregnancy.

She expressed,

“It was very traumatic. I was in New York and had a really bad miscarriage. I had to go to the hospital. I had to have a blood transfusion. It was very, very, very scary.”
“You already opened your heart to becoming a mom, so it was awful. Even just talking about it… it really was a difficult time.”

The Jamaican-born reality show star then went on to acknowledge that she is opening up about her miscarriage experience hoping to give some relief to other mothers who are experiencing such a similar situation realizing to them that they weren’t alone.

Although Sanya Richards-Ross shared that she was ‘nervous’ to become pregnant again after her miscarriage as her doctor encouraged her to keep trying. She said,

“It’s been a hard journey getting here, but I am so glad for the obstacles [be]cause they made me that much stronger.”

The former Olympic track and field champion then went on to say that she is prioritizing her ‘family first’ as she realized how much motherhood meant to her in the wake of the miscarriage.
