  • Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was invited to join the royal family on Christmas Day by King Charles.
  • The surprise invitation came after the King’s father, Prince Philip, spent years freezing her out.
  • Fergie has always remained close to King Charles and has grown closer to Queen Camilla, according to palace insiders.

Prince Charles welcomed Sarah Ferguson into the royal family

Sarah Ferguson surprised royal fans by joining members of the royal family on Christmas Day with a big smile on her face.

The former royal, 64, joined her ex-husband Prince Andrew, King Charles, and the rest of the members of the royal family on their annual traditional walk to St. Magdalene’s church on the Sandringham estate.

This was Ferguson’s first time attending the service with the famous family in more than 30 years.

Reports suggested that King Charles, the former brother-in-law had a big hand in making her part of the family again.

The king, 75, also invited the mother of his nieces, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, to Christmas lunch at the Norfolk estate in 2022. It was just months after he became the new king after his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed in September of that year.

During her appearance in Sandringham, Sarah, whose nickname is Fergie, looked chic and cozy in a green coat and hairband as she shook hands and collected flowers from her well-wishers.

Despite being divorced in 1996, Fergie and Andrew have remained very close and still lived together since 2008.

Her controversy included a marriage cheating scandal when she was infamously photographed with her toes in another man’s mouth. Sources revealed that it particularly horrified her late father-in-law, Prince Philip.

After that, the Duke of Edinburgh could not stand having Sarah at public events with the family.

However, a palace insider said,

“Sarah has always been close to the King [Charles] and is fond of him, and she has increasingly grown closer to the Queen [Camilla].”

They added,

“She’s always been loyal to the family and has really not put a foot wrong in recent years. She’s never said a critical word and is always extremely loyal to the institution.”

Sarah supported Andrew through thick and thin

Fergie even fully supported Andrew throughout his sexual assault scandal.

The disgraced royal, 63, lost all his royal titles and honors due to his friendship with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

He reportedly paid a multi-million dollar settlement to Virginia Guiffre, one of Jeffrey’s accusers who claimed that she was forced to sleep with the Queen’s son when she was a minor.

Andrew who reportedly settled a multi-million dollar deal with  Guiffre has always denied his wrongdoings.

Another royal insider said,

Fergie who said she had breast cancer earlier this year took to Instagram over Christmas and made it clear that she was happy to be back in the family.

Sharing a photo of her and her two daughters, the Duchess of York wrote,
