American chef Michael Chiarello died a sudden death on 6 October 2023. He was just 61 years of age at the time of his death. And now his autopsy report has revealed the shocking cause of his death. Know all the details here.

The late Michael Chiarello died last month suddenly on 6 October 2023. He was just 61 years of age. A post-mortem was conducted on his body to know the exact cause of death.

The autopsy report is out and it has given a shocking reason for the cause of death. Radar Online has learned that Michael had a severe allergic reaction to some unknown etiologic agent that led to an anaphylactic shock and subsequent heart attack.

The Napa County coroner added that cocaine was also found in the chef’s blood. But it did not lead to his death. Moreover, Michael suffered from co-morbid conditions such as hypertension, obesity, heart disease, sleep apnea syndrome, and hypothyroidism.

It may be recalled that on 6 October 2023, Michael suddenly collapsed. Paramedics arrived on the scene on time and successfully resuscitated him. They shifted him to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center. But Michael died later due to encephalopathy secondary to hypoxic brain insult and low blood flow. He has four children from two marriages.

Family statement on Michael’s death

Michael had the popular show Easy Entertaining With Michael Chiarello on Food Network. It had ten seasons. He was an expert in Italian cooking and had also appeared on TV shows Chopped, Top Chef, and The Next Iron Chef.

Michael has three daughters with his first wife. They are Margaux, Felicia, and Giana. He married his second wife, Eileen Gordon in 2003. Their son, Aidan was born in 2005. He filed for divorce from Eileen in 2019.

Michael’s loved ones issued a statement on his death that read:

On his death, his restaurant group Gruppo Chiarello also expressed its condolences:

“In remembrance, we ask that you join us in celebrating his remarkable journey and the incredible impact he had on the world of food, wine, and family by inviting you to share a meal with your family and friends to remind all of us that the bonds forged over a meal are among life’s most precious treasures.”

Michael’s family asked grieving friends to donate to Meals on Wheels instead of getting flowers for him.
