Currently, she is working for ‘Scandal’, ‘How to Get Away with Murder, and ‘The Catch’.

Talking about her early life, she was born on January 13, 1970. She experienced her childhood in Illinois, USA. Her parents are Vera P. (mother), a university administrator, and Ilee Rhimes, Jr. (father), a college professor.

She was raised in Park Forest South with two older brothers and three older sisters. Shonda was brought up in a family with highly educated family members.

As per her education, she went to Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and later moved to  Dartmouth College whereby, she majored in English and film studies. After her graduation from Dartmouth College, she applied and joined the University of Southern California to study screenwriting.

This was not over, she intended to complete her master’s degree from USC School of Cinematic Arts where she majored in fine arts.

Before working as a creator, head writer, executive producer, and showrunner of the television medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy in 2005, Rhimes worked for ‘Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream’, ‘Introducing Dorothy Dandridge’, ‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’, etc.

Working for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was her breakthrough and after her success with ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, she also served as an executive producer of medical drama, ‘Off the Map‘. She has also produced television series ‘Scandal’, ‘How to Get Away from Murder’, and ‘The Catch’.
