Broderick Stephen Harvey was born in Welch, West Virginia on January 17, 1957. His family eventually relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Glenville High School and graduated in 1974. He attended Kent State University before transferring to West Virginia University. He has worked as a boxer, autoworker, and insurance salesman, as well as a carpet cleaner and mailman, and had his comedic debut on October 8, 1985, at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Harvey, no stranger to adversity, was homeless for three years in the late 1980s, sleeping in his 1976 Ford when the gigs he performed at did not provide a motel.

Harvey’s 27-year career as a stand-up comedian came to an end on August 2, 2012, when he did his final stand-up act at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In addition to his comic career, Harvey has had a number of achievements in his numerous other undertakings.

Harvey is well-known as a lively and engaging host, perhaps perhaps more so than as a comic. Harvey began presenting the game program “Family Feud” in 2010. His uninterrupted tenure as show host is also the longest of any previous host. Real Estate

In February 2018, Steve and Marjorie leased a magnificent mansion in Beverly Park, a gated neighborhood atop Beverly Hills, California. The 12,000 square foot house, which sits on just under 2 acres, was once listed for lease at $125,000 PER MONTH, but the Harveys were able to negotiate a lower monthly rent of $110,000. That calculates up to about $1.3 million in rent per year. The mansion was listed for sale for $23.5 million at one point in 2007.

Outside of Los Angeles, Steve Harvey owns a 9,000-square-foot estate in Atlanta that he purchased in 2010 for $3.4 million, as well as a 4-acre mansion outside of Dallas, Texas. Steve bought a 5,500-square-foot house on the 88th floor of Trump International in Chicago in 2013. In 2018, he sold that property for $7.7 million.
