Tamar Braxton and her struggles with Body Dysmorphia

Tamar Braxton recalls,

“Can You Believe I Thought I Was Fat?”

These were the words, Tamar, after she found some of her old pictures in her parents’ house. She then told her fans about her past and opened up about her feeling that she was fat during those days.

Braxton discussed her battles with body dystopia and requested her fans to love themselves and their body. She said:

“There is nothing like going to your parents house and finding old 1996 HORRIBLE pictures of yourself!! Can you believe I thought I was FAT??!?”

Tamar shared on her Instagram:

“It’s so funny how you see yourself then, and how it parallels to now.”

The award-winning singer said further:

“I STILL struggle with body dysmorphia to THIS DAY all because a record executive told me I was too fat at 11 to be more of a ‘commercial’ artist,”

She was overwhelmingly affected by the record executive’s remark. Her family too was told by network executives that they were very boring for TV leading to a lot of ensuing drama.

Tamar and her advice to her fans

Tamar was full of useful advice for people who have to deal with such negative people in their lives.

She said:

“People will try to turn you into whatever they want you to be for their benefit. When are you going to be who YOU truly are for your OWN benefit?”

She continued:

“We put ourselves through hell to be however someone else sees’s us…how about if you are going to work at something. WORK ON YOU FOR YOU and have the faith that GOD made you this way on purpose!”

Tamar and her career

42-year-old Marland native Tamar has been active in the field of music and acting since 1989. She was the youngest of 6 children in the family and had begun to sing as a toddler.

Her father was a pastor at the local church and Tamar was part of the church choir. She was a teenager when she signed for the first record with Arista Records along with her sisters. Their first single did not leave a mark.

Toni was signed as the solo by LaFace Records and Tamer and her other sisters helped with her music videos and tours. In 2000, she managed to record her debut album called Ridiculous. It was renamed Tamar with the deletion of some and the addition of some new songs and released.

She had some label problems in between. She later after marriage joined Universal Records and also had a reality show about her and her family which started in 2011. Love and War was her second album released with Epic Records.

She released 3 more albums after that and was also a contestant on the show Dancing with the Stars in 2015. She also has her fashion line called Tamar Collection launched in 2014.

Tamar and her personal life

Tamar was dating record executive Vincent Herbert since 2003 and the couple married in 2008. Their son Logan was born in 2013 on 6 June. In October 2017, she filed for divorce from Vincent.

She was earlier married in 2001 to music producer Darrell “Delite” Allamby. In 2 years, there were fights and the couple separated in 2003.
