Tiny and T.I.: their lawsuit against MGA Entertainment over OMG dolls backfires!

Tiny and T.I. and their lawsuit

MGA Entertainment has created certain OMG dolls. Tiny and T I. claimed that the toymaker had copied their girl group OMG Girlz’s image to create those dolls. This teen pop girl group included Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique Pullins, and her two friends, Bahja Rodriguez and Breaunna Womack. The couple promoted it from 2009 to 2015 and they reunited from 2023 to present.

It was the fans of the couple who made them aware of the fact that the OMG dolls closely resemble the dress-up of the OMG Girlz group’s members. Hence, the duo sued the company and claimed that the dolls had a likeness to the group. The hair, names, and dress of the dolls were similar to that of the group members. The company had begun selling the dolls in 2019. And T.I. and Tiny demanded damages of USD 100 million from the toymaker. They tried to settle things with the toymaker. But when the toymaker refused a licensing agreement, the couple sent the toymaker a cease and desist order in 2020.

The lawsuit backfires

Unfortunately, the tables turned and the Harris couple lost this legal battle in May 2023. They tried hard but their efforts did not pay. A federal jury in Santa Ana gave a ruling in favor of the toymaker. The justification was that the OMG girlz had stopped functioning in 2018 and hence that implied that they had abandoned the title. So the company was free to use it. At that time in 2019, it was not obliged to seek permission from the girl group to make OMG dolls.

OMG dolls are extremely successful now. But the company is free to make and sell it since it started when the OMG Girlz group was no longer functional. Moreover, the Harris couple has to pay the lawyer’s fees of the company. This amounts to nearly USD 6 million which T.I. and Tiny have now to shell out. Their case has backfired.

Tiny and T.I.’s relationships

Singer Tiny was dating Zonnie “Zeboe” Pullins and has a daughter called Zonnique from this relationship. In 2001, she began a relationship with rapper T.I. Their son King Harris arrived on 25 August 2004. Her second pregnancy was complicated and ended in a stillbirth at six months in 2007.

Later, on 16 May 2008, Tiny gave birth to their second child, son Major Philant/Phillip Harris. On 30 July 2010, they walked down the aisle together in Miami Beach Florida. Later, they had a daughter, Heiress Diana Harris whom they welcomed on 26 March 2016.

T.I. has three more children. He has two children (sons) from his relationship with Lashon Dixon. He was also dating R&B singer, Ms. Niko in the past and has a daughter with her.

In December 2016, Tiny had put in her divorce papers and wanted to end her marriage with the rapper. Since then, the two have been trying for a reconciliation. The divorce is on hold until then.
