The Staircase and the musician, 50, and her husband Dave Galafassi announced their breakup in a joint statement on Wednesday, December 7, released on Collette’s Instagram handle on behalf of both her and her estranged husband.

The actress has just reactivated her Instagram account five days ago. She posted a picture that reads ‘Peace & Love’ and revealed the tragic news in the comment section, penning down,

“It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing.”

“We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other. Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape.”

Toni and Dave instantly connected after they first met in 2002. The duo exchanged vows in a Buddhist ceremony the following year in January. The now-estranged couple is blessed with two children a daughter Sage Florence, 14, and Arlo Robert, 11.

The Stowaway actress concluded her statement with a note of gratitude,

“We’re thankful for the space and love you grant us as we evolve and move through this transition peacefully. Big thanks. Toni Collette and David Galafassi.”

A few hours before the announcement of their divorce, Collette shared another post sharing a cryptic quote to her Instagram Story that read,

“No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”

Has Dave Galafassi cheated on his wife Toni Collette?

The divorce news comes after Dave Galafassi was spotted passionately kissing a woman in the surf off a Sydney beach. The former drummer of the indie rock band was pictured on Wednesday morning taking an early dip at Manly with another woman.

It was later discovered that the woman was a chiropractor Shannon Egan, wearing an open shirt and sunglasses. In the pictures, Galafassi was seen hugging and kissing the 41-year-old Egan in the water and on the sand in front of other swimmers.

The pair reportedly arrived at the beach at about 7:30 am. After spending 15 minutes in the water they came out and bought a coffee for themselves. One of the witnesses said the couple was ‘all over each other”.

Similarly, they can be seen in a deep conversation at one point as Galafassi rested on a sea wall and Ms. Egan was seen leaning forward.
