In 2004, he became the first person to successfully defend the South African Open title since Gary Player in the 1970s. He has four victories on the European Tour. Along with Rory Sabbatini, he helped South Africa win the WGC-World Cup in 2003.

Trevor’s career took a turn for the better in 2018. He cut in 8 out of 13 events while concentrating on the European Tour, with a best performance of T3 in the Scottish Open. But he finished in the top 420th place in the world, his greatest position since 2014.

He had previously been ranked 1,380th. John earned full eligibility for the 2019 season after placing 77th in the Race to Dubai rankings. He led the international team at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, in September 2022 during the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Moreover, he worked as an analyst for Turner Sports’ TNT coverage of the PGA Championship in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He also joined the CBS commentating crew for the PGA Tour in December 2019. John became CBS’s top golf analyst in 2023 after Nick Faldo retired in 2022.
