TV celebrity chef, Phil Vickery hints about messing up his marriage to TV personality, Fern Britton!

The celebrated English TV celebrity chef, Phil Vickery was in a marital relationship with British author and TV personality, Fern Britton for 20 years. They split in 2020. Does Phil regret the breakup? At least his recent now-deleted social media post seemed to hint at that. His fans are confused with his post and also worried for him.

Phil Vickery and his recent now-deleted social media post

English TV celebrity, Phil Vickery, 62 was married to TV personality, Fern Britton, 66 from 2000 to 2020. Earlier, he had never spoken about their relationship or divorce. He was always tight-lipped about it. But recently, Phil posted a cryptic message on his social media that seemed to hint that he was missing Fern and his relationship with her. He seemed to be regretting having separated from her.

Phil put up a quote message on his Instagram story which he later deleted. He wrote:

‘A lot of people mess up something good, by looking for something better, to end up with something worse.’

Later, he uploaded pics of some tasty-looking and yummy Easter treats with cake and coffee. He also posted a pic of an octopus salad and both the posts he captioned as:

“#happydays.”

It appears that Phil has regrets over having split from his wife of 20 years.

The relationships of the couple

Phil and Fern met on the set of the BBC Two’s show on cookery called Ready Steady Cook. After Fern’s divorce from her ex-husband, Clive Jones was completed, she and Phil wed in the spring of 2000. They share a daughter together whose name is Winifred or Winnie in short and who was born in 2001.

They had a happy married life. But on 29 January 2020, the two posted a joint statement on their Twitter or X account that read:

‘After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.’
‘We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.’

Fern was earlier married to TV executive Clive Jones whom she had met while he was still married to his first wife. Despite his married status, the two started an extramarital affair. One year later, Fern decided to break off from Clive. But he arrived at her doorstep two days later to tell her that he has left his wife and would like to marry her.

On 12 November 1988, they exchanged wedding vows in Southsea. The couple has three kids together. They are twin children, both sons Jack and Harry (born in 1994) and a daughter Grace (born in 1997).

However, following the birth of their daughter, their married life collapsed and the couple separated in the starting month of 1998.

Fern’s life after her second divorce

The TV star had referred to Phil once as a great and amazing friend, husband, and partner. She added that he was her life’s great love. After the split, she had admitted:

‘I’m not afraid of change…The last three years have been very hard; I lost my parents, I lost my marriage.”
‘I lost my other home in Buckinghamshire, too, because Phil lives there now and I’m in Cornwall. But the magic I’ve found here is incredible.’

She also stated that the world is her oyster and she is trying to figure her way around. She described her phase of life as a transition phase. Does she want to remarry? Fern had stated on the show Celebrity Big Brother that she is not keen to wed again. MailOnline reports that she told Louis Walsh:

‘I’m ready to slow down, like you, I’ve been working solidly since I was 20.’

She continued:

“I don’t want to fall in love again,’
