Was it a suicidal death following depression? This is most probably the cause of death of the US Judo star Jack Hatton. He was found dead suddenly at the tender age of 24. The USA Judo team announced his tragic passing on 25 September 2019 Wednesday.
Jack Hatton and his sudden tragic death
The death of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic hopeful in Judo Jack Hatton came too soon and too suddenly. He was a star of the USA Judo team but died suddenly at the age of 24. The USA Judo Team on Wednesday 25 September 2019 made this sad announcement:
“It is with extremely heavy hearts that USA Judo announces the unexpected passing of USA Judo national team member Jack Hatton.”
This statement was put up on the website of the USA Judo team. The statement further read:
“We extend our sincere condolences to the Hatton Family, and Jack’s teammates, coaches, and friends.”
The website further narrated all the past glories of the departed soul. It said:
“Jack was one of America’s top Judo players and was a multi-time medalist for USA Judo in various competitions across the globe. Jack made an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will not be forgotten.”
“We grieve with the entire USA Judo and international Judo community during this tough time. USA Judo is in the process of providing grief counseling services for those in need and will share information on services for Jack as they become available.”
Jack Hatton and his international contributions to the country and its Judo team
The Judo player Jack Hatton was the key player of the team. He was in the top notches of the team and was preparing to be on the 2020 Olympic team in Tokyo.
Jack had begun to learn Judo at age 5 following the footsteps of his father and brother. He underwent further training at the Jason Morris Judo Center and San Jose State University. Later, he moved to Pedro’s Judo Center in Wakefield, MA. Here he was under the tutelage of the two-time Olympic medalist Jimmy Pedro.
He was in the Jr. World Championships and later won the Jr. US Open for three consecutive years. He was on the Sr. Nationals team at age 17. He won several cups in Judo at national and international levels. He was also a two-time Grand Prix Medalist. In 2016, he helped the Olympic team prepare for the games.

Jimmy Pedro offers his tribute to Jack Hatton
His coach Jimmy Pedro was shocked at the sudden death of his star student. He wrote on his Instagram:
“It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the untimely passing of one of our students, teammates, brothers, and friends, Jack Hatton.
“Jack has been a member of Pedro’s Judo Center since 2015 and pursuing his dream of becoming a member of the 2020 Olympic Team. Along with being a top US Judo athlete, Jack was kind-hearted, caring, and an all-around great person. He was a true role model for students at our dojo and judoka all over the country. He will be deeply missed by all of us at Pedro’s Judo Center and the rest of the Judo world.”
Pedro also put down the phone numbers of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on his social media and requested that individuals who have depression seek help.
