A family of three! Uzo Aduba and Robert Sweeting have added a new member to their family.

The Orange Is the New Black alum, 42, took to Instagram on Thursday, November 30, to share the happy news that she gave birth to her first child with her husband.

The couple is blessed with a baby girl named Adaiba Lee Nonyem.

She shared a pair of photos from her hospital bed featuring her newborn but did not reveal the baby’s face. The first photo shows Aduba cradling her baby, while the second focuses on the baby’s leg.

Similarly, she captioned the post while expressing her excitement about the birth of her baby, writing,

“My daughter. I’ve never been in love so quickly, so deeply in my entire life, I really don’t know what to say, guys. My heart is full. Thank you, God. I have joy like a fountain. I have witnessed a miraculous thing, and I feel blessed to know you are ours.  We love you so much, Adaiba Lee Nonyem – Daughter of the people, treasurer of the mother’s names who came before you.”

“I’m a Mommy, you guys. Motherhood. I’ve joined the club. I hear the dues are high, but the membership is completely worth it 🙂 #grateful.”

The baby arrived almost five months after the actress announced her pregnancy. In June, she debuted her then-baby bump at the 2023 Tony Awards.

Days after she announced her pregnancy, she dedicated a heartfelt message to her husband on Father’s Day, expressing her appreciation for his love and support during her pregnancy.

She wrote on Instagram,

“Father-to-be. I love how great you are going to be in this role, @robertsweetinglife, I love you so much and appreciate everything you have been to us on this journey.  Thank you for being an incredible father. Already. #fathersday.” 

Uzo Aduba and Robert Sweeting are a very private person

The new parents prefer to keep a low-key when it comes to their personal life. The couple kept their courtship a secret until announcing their marriage, which had taken place a year earlier.

In September 2021, Sweeting disclosed about their secret marriage while penning an anniversary tribute on Instagram. He wrote at the time,

“One year ago I married this gorgeous, talented and incredible woman. This past year has made me appreciate the fragile nature of life and the importance of living it, At a time where the world is upside down, we learned to find joy and peace in each other. You are the greatest person I’ve ever known, and I’m proud to be your husband.”

Following the November, the Tony winner explained why they kept their romance private during an appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

“We were just taking the year to ourselves to enjoy the time and have some quiet time together, and then we were having our anniversary come up, [We did it] quietly and with a small group, of course — our most loved and closest family and friends. It was awesome.”
