His mother is an artist, writer, and poet while his father a computer executive. His father belongs to German-Russian ethnicity, while his mother belongs to German, English, Scottish ancestry, and Scots-Irish. He grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Mormon and worked a two-year mission in Switzerland and France.

Moreover, in 1981, Eckhart’s family migrated and settled in England following his father’s job in information technology.
