Reports have emerged that actress Sara Ramirez, 48 has reached a settlement on divorce with her estranged husband, Ryan Debolt, 43. TMZ has got the court documents copy with them. It states that the divorce issues are settled. In it, both Sara and Ryan have let go of any spousal support.
Now, what remains is for the judge to sign the papers. This will happen on 16 December this year. If the Judge signs the divorce documents, it will be the legal end of their marriage.
Though Sara and Ryan split six years ago, it was only in June 2024 that Sara decided to make their separation legal. Hence, she filed for an official divorce in court. The reason for separation mentioned was irreconcilable differences.
Sara has asked the court to not grant any spousal support to either party. The couple had a prenuptial agreement. Therefore, the process of divorce was smooth and faster.
The relationship timeline of the couple
Sara and Ryan met, became friends, and started dating. After a few years of smooth courtship, Ryan proposed to her and she accepted his marriage proposal. This was in June 2011. And subsequently, in July 2012, Sara and Ryan wed in a private ceremony on a beach in New York.
The couple has no children together. In 2016, Sara came out as queer and bisexual.
The couple announced their split in July 2021 but listed January 2018 as their separation date. And in August 2020, Sara revealed that she is non-binary and uses the pronouns they and them. She wrote on her Instagram:
“In me is the capacity to be: girlish boy, boyish girl, boyish boy, girlish girl, all, neither.”
Sara and Ryan separated in 2018, but made the announcement on Instagram in July 2021. Sara posted:
“We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths. Thank you for holding space around our choices and respecting our families’ privacy as we navigate this process on our own terms.”
Sara’s sacking from the show And Just Like That…
It came to news that Sara got the pink slip to exit the show And Just Like That…in which she plays a fictional non-binary character of Che Diaz. Miranda Hobbes played by actress Cynthia Nixon finds stagnation in her married life to the character of Steve Brady and ends it to be with Che.
There were claims that Sara had to leave the show due to her pro-Palestine stance. After the Emmy awards 2024, Sara posted:
“Our industry is so duplicitous. While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making blacklists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians in Gaza to ensure they will not work again.”
“While they lift up some of their own clients who have spoken up against this genocide,” Ramirez added, “they are firing and letting others who have smaller platforms go.”
“It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are. Even more performative than the last character I played,”
But an insider told Daily Mail that the producers of the show wanted to end her character since long because she brought no more ratings to the show after her character split from Miranda. The source said:
“Sara was not fired because they support Palestine and the cease-fire,”
“Sara was fired because Che brought nothing to the show anymore. After Che split with Miranda, the character really held no value anymore and fans found them annoying.”
Cynthia agreed on this reason.
