Anya Taylor-Joy wanted her wedding dress to be very unconventional yet elegant and stylish.

The bride looked stunning in a custom Dior wedding dress on her wedding to musician Malcolm McRae for the second time in Venice over the weekend.

The Queen’s Gambit star, 27, and McRae, 28, secretly tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony last summer. For the lavish ceremony, the bride chose a princess-inspired blush tulle Dior ballgown instead of a traditional white or ivory dress.

The full-skirted frock was embellished with flowers and other woodland motifs, with a hummingbird across the bodice and a thistle.

The bird symbolizes joy, love, and good luck and seems to be the actress’ favorite as she once spoke about it during an Elle interview when asked about her animal counterpart.

She told the magazine in 2021,

“I’d love to say a killer whale, but I don’t think I actually am one. I think I’m like a big cat and a hummingbird at the same time,”

Thistle, meanwhile is Scotland’s national flower which might be a tribute to Taylor’s Scottish-Argentinian father.

Other meaningful gestures from the bride included an Aries symbol which is her star sign and something blue which was stitched just above her waist.
